You can pay for a Dignity funeral plan a number of ways. Here is a summary of the options:

In Full / or over 12 months – You don’t incur any additional fees for spreading your costs over 12 months. So the 12 month option or paying in one go is the cheapest way to pay.

Monthly payment options – Dignity offer instalments between 1 and 10 years dependent on age with no deposit.Dignity promise

On monthly funeral plans, Dignity promises to cover the cost of your funeral as detailed in your plan if you die before completing your instalments. This means any outstanding balance will be covered by Dignity, not your family.

*The only conditions is that the plan must have been in place for at least 12 months with all your payments up to date.

How secure are Dignity funeral plans?

Dignity is registered with and regulated by the Funeral Planning Authority so therefore has to comply with their strict rules and code of conduct on the service you receive and most importantly how the money is held.

When buying a Dignity funeral plan your money is held in the National Funeral Trust which is a completely separate entity to Dignity, so if anything were to happen to the company, the trust fund with your money in it remains intact and ready to pay for your funeral.

Dignity is also the only company to publish a comprehensive annual Trust Fund Report so there is complete transparency.

Dignity - company review

Dignity is the UK’s leading provider of funeral plans and one the UK’s leading funeral service providers with over 1,200 privately owned or approved funeral directors.

They are also the largest single operator of crematoriums with over 46 locations across Britain (you still have access to all crematoriums throughout the UK with the plan – not just Dignity owned crematoriums).

As well as selling their plans direct, Dignity is also the company behind the Age UK funeral Plan, the Post Office Funeral Plan and various banks and building societies.

Dignity also provides the funeral benefit option for the SunLife Over 50 Plan & Legal & General over 50 life insurance.  This enables the policyholder to have the policy cash sum paid directly to Dignity and receive an additional £250 contribution towards the cost of the funeral in return.

Our Dignity funeral plan reviews verdict

Dignity plans include a guarantee for cremation and minister’s fees as well as the funeral director’s costs, which makes their plans one of the most comprehensive you can buy. Plans do not include the doctor’s fees so if required, this would need to be paid for at the time of need.

The burial fee contribution can be used in its entirety for any funeral services – such as help with buying the plot, flowers, or the reception – and if there is any money left over, it is paid back to the family or estate. With most funeral plan providers this allowance must be used for the actual burial or interment fees and if you don’t use it, you lose it.

Dignity offer a nationwide service but you do have to use either one of their own funeral directors or one of their approved independent funeral directors.
